Counselling Supervision
As a counsellor or psychotherapist you will be aware of the professional requirement for supervision for your therapeutic or clinical work, as specified by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (B.A.C.P.), the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (U.K.C.P.) and the British Psychological Society (B.P.S.).
I have been supervising counsellors since 1987, and complemented this with further training in 1993 (M.Sc. in Counselling, Supervision and Training, Univerity of Bristol). All of my supervision adheres to the Ethical Framework of the B.A.C.P.
I provide supervision for both trainee counsellors (known as 'trainee supervision') and trained/experienced counsellors. Sessions are usually of 1.5 hours duration, meeting for a minimum of one session a month - more frequently if needed for training or other professional purposes.
My current list of supervisees includes those in private practice; counsellors working within the Further Education sector; counsellors in the addiction field (working in both street agencies and in residential rehabilitation centres); counsellors working in primary care (I have seven years experience of being a primary care counsellor); counsellors working within national childrens charities; counsellors working within school settings; bereavement counsellors (working within hospice settings as well as in the voluntary sector); and counsellor trainers (including Core Process Psychotherapy trainers).
I am a person-centred integrative supervisor incorporating broad humanistic theory and positive psychology. I am also skilled in working with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (C.B.T.) and psychodynamic principles.
